And it’s a “goodbye”
from Carole Pullen
North Somerset Mencap, Project Coordinator
Dear North Somerset Mencap members, their families, carers,
support workers, key workers and all the volunteers past and present.
It is with a great deal of sadness to advise; I am being
made redundant and this is my final post.
I started working for North Somerset Mencap 1st
January 2007, I was and have been to date their only employee. To think in 2007
there wasn’t even a website, email or facebook page for North Somerset Mencap.
I have met so many amazing people and have loved developing
the project coordinator role. I felt very honoured to take over the reins from
Tom and Jenny and run the Cool Summer Club. It has always been for me one of
the highlights of the year, both on a professional level and also on a personal
level. I will miss you all very much, hopefully when lockdown restrictions ease
and life gets back to some sort of normality, I will see everyone and Anita and Ann
at a NSM disco for a boogie.
I have had so many opportunities over the last 14
years to promote North Somerset Mencap and would like to thank all the funders/donors
for their support and answering my pleas for financial assistance, from local
town council grants to sponsored walks, every penny has been appreciated and
gone towards NSM activities.
I would also like to thank my family and friends who
have all been involved in the charity in some way or another and helped at many
events. It really has been so rewarding for everyone and we are so lucky and thankful to have
created so many wonderful memories.
North Somerset Mencap Limited support children and
adults with a learning disability and their families and carers, I wish the
current voluntary committee all the very best for the future and long may they
continue to carry out the good work of the charity which was established in 1974.
May you all have a prosperous and healthy 2021.
Best wishes.
Carole
